Job Description
About the role:
You will report to the Head of Manufacturing Sciences. You will
provide container closure design, manufacturing, failure analysis
and process development support to the manufacturing groups at the
Round Lake Site. The Manufacturing Sciences team investigates
events within the manufacturing facility area by assisting our
quality and manufacturing partners in troubleshooting issues,
supporting regulatory inspections by explaining technical decisions
to regulatory agencies, and maintaining process compliance. The
team develops scientific and engineering insight on the fill-finish
operations resident in the site and owns the specifications for the
product and intermediaries. Finally, the team owns the site yield
metric, and the yield improvement projects for the site.
How you will contribute:
Manage container related specifications and risk management
activities for the site.
Oversees the design and manufacturing evolution of the container
closure system.
Lead and support teams to support complex technical problems that
are essential to Deviations and CAPA's, associated with the
container system.
Lead test method development, adoption and transfer for container
closure related product defects and solution loss challenges.
Develop expertise in filling/finishing operations for flexible
container filled biologics.
Communicate technical insight in fill-finish operations, through
definition of technical projects and subsequent planning.
Complete Risk Management activities related to the container and
process failure modes and defects
Support the site during inspections as one of the technical
experts.
Work with Manufacturing to help promote important metrics.
You will be responsible of a small (three to five person) Container
Closure Core Competency group within Round Lake Manufacturing
Science Function after demonstrated performance.
Mentor junior team members manage interns or rotation of Operation
Development Program participants.
What you bring to Takeda:
Must be proficient in written and oral English
Knowledge of engineering principals. Specifically, in Flexible
container design, analysis, manufacturing (heat sealing) and
troubleshooting.
Experience in container closure design, manufacturing and product
support
Hands-on capability in failure and root cause analysis
Proficiency in statistical methods to analyze heterogeneous data
(from batch records), develop experimental plans and characterize
existing complex processes.
In general, your work will be a combination of sedentary work and
walking around observing conditions of the facility.
Must be able to carry up to 25lbs, lift up to 25lbs, push/pull up
to 25lbs (with assistance of material handling equipment).
During observations and inspections: Must be able to stand and/or
walk for an extended period of time over an 8-12 hour shift between
rooms and across the site.
Typically Requires a Bachelor's degree in science, engineering or
other related technical field. 4+ years of related experience.

Important Considerations

In general, the position requires a combination of sedentary work,
standing work, and walking around observing conditions or
performing work in the facility.

Will work around moving equipment and machinery during
observations
During observations and inspections: May be asked to work in
controlled environments requiring special safety gear or gowning;
will follow gowning requirements and wear protective clothing over
the head, face, hands, feet, and body. No make-up, jewelry, contact
lenses, nail polish, or artificial fingernails may be worn in the
manufacturing environment.
During observations and inspections: May be asked to work in
confined spaces/areas.
Requires flexibility to complete activities during off shift hours
and/or conduct activities in support of different shifts as
needed.
Willing to travel. Travel required.
