Job Description:
This position with the Civilian Office of Police Accountability
(COPA) and has a core responsibility that includes creating,
running and enhancing SQL queries to extract data from COPA's data
warehouse in response to internal and external data requests.

updating of summary data reports and data visualizations (e.g.
annual reports and dashboards) used to monitor and assess
organizational performance and
communicate with the public.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
--- Receives, reviews, and prioritizes internal and external
information requests (e.g., e-discovery, freedom of
information, investigative) for electronically stored data, images,
and documents.
--- Creates data reports, builds dashboards, builds data models,
analyzes datasets and administers PowerBI tools.
--- Connect data sources, import data and transform data for
business intelligence.
--- Write optimized SQL queries for integration with other
applications.
--- Develops scripts, procedures, and triggers for application
development.
--- Maintains data quality and backups.
--- Follows established guidelines and requirements in validating
requests for information and consults with COPA inhouse
attorneys.
--- Tracks and manages information requests from various sources
and ensures expectations and deadlines are met.
--- Extracts, indexes, merges, and manipulates large and multiple
data sets into database sources.
--- Performs technical and analytical functions using electronic
software tools.
--- Performs data quality reviews and validates converted
information in preparation for database creation.
--- Converts data and images into various formats for reporting
purposes.
--- Prepares tables, charts and graphs and forwards information to
the requestor.
--- Summarizes findings and prepares narrative reports to explain
data results.
--- Proactively analyzes data to identify trends and support
pattern and practice investigations.
--- Supports data analysis needs of the Policy and Legislative
Affairs and Public Affairs groups.
--- Performs other duties, as required.

Days: Monday - Friday
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm
Salary: $73,140 (non-negotiable)
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a
Bachelor's degree, plus one year of experience in data
analysis/management OR one year of experience performing fact
finding research, analysis and reporting, or an equivalent
combination of education, training and experience.
Selection Requirement: This position requires applicants to
complete an interview which will include an excel skills assessment
test as part of the interview. The interviewed candidate(s)
possessing the qualifications best suited to fulfill the
responsibilities of the position, based on the oral and written
parts of the interview will be selected.
Preference will be given to candidates possessing the
following:
--- Master's Degree in a related Social Science discipline such as
Statistical Analysis, Big Data, Public Policy,
Criminal Justice, etc.
--- Previous experience with SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS),
PowerBI, Python, Microsoft Azure, and webbased code
repositories.
--- Previous experience writing code to query relational
databases.
--- Previous experience developing, refining, and documenting data
governance standards.
--- Previous experience performing data analysis and management,
preparing statistical reports and producing and
describing summary tables, charts, and graphs.
--- Previous experience collaborating with data scientists, data
engineers, and/or database developers.
--- The ability to read, write and speak any language other than
English fluently
Residency Requirement: All employees of the City must be actual
residents of the City as outlined in 2-152-050 of the City Chicago
Municipal Code. Proof of residency will be required.
