Job Title: Lab Technician Location: Elgin, IllinoisPay Rate: $21Schedule: 40 hour work week. Monday- Friday. Flexible work hoursDuration: contract through the end of the year, with possibility of extension Job Description: 1. Lab skills- understand lab safety, good basic lab skills, good documentation skills.2. Use of electronic laboratory notebook or equivalence 3. Must have strong work ethic, needs to be able to work independently and coordinate work with the group. 4. Will be standing most of the day in the lab.5. Must have good fine motor skills. Patience to handle delicate samples. 6. Responsible for analytical and physical testing, tensile testing, DMA - dynamic material analysis, IR.a. Curing and preparing UV curable films and samples for testingb. Tensile testing, peel adhesion testing, coefficient of friction testingc. DMA testing for Tg, modulus, tear resistanced. Degree of cure of UV curable coatings via IR analysise. Viscosity testing including temperature viscosity curvesf. Refractive index testing of both liquid and solid samplesg. Color analysis of both liquid and solid samplesh. Use of titration equipmenti. Use of thermal analysis equipment (DSC and TGA) 7. Will also be responsible for formulations - mixing and blending lab size formulations.Education Requirements:Bachelors in: Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, Physics, Material Science, Chemical Engineer or other science based degree.
