Rate of Pay: $20.03 FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Grant Funded: No Job Summary: Arrange and provide support services, accommodations and resources to students with disabilities in order to facilitate a barrier-free environment with equal access to all College programs and services. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : --- Bachelor's Degree in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field. --- Experience working within an academic setting with direct student contact, specifically students with disabilities --- Knowledge of high school education programs, applicable laws and regulations impacting student disability services (e.g., ADA, Section 504) and FERPA) --- Education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in concepts of Universal Design for Instruction and the social model of disability --- Strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to effectively and accurately interpret and legibly write when scribing for students' tests --- Computer experience, knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access) and email --- Service oriented, empathic and able to interact with diverse populations --- Demonstrated knowledge of disabilities including learning, psychological, health, neurological, physical, and sensory --- High initiative, strong attention to detail, consistent and reliable follow-through and able to meet deadlines --- Team player who can work independently Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Master's in Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Psychology or a related field.preferred Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague preferred Essential Duties: Conducts intake appointments and engages students in the interactive process in order to determine student needs and provide or oversees reasonable accommodations and other supportive services for students. Provides ongoing case management, follow up and support to students regarding accommodations, and engages with staff, faculty and administrators to promote inclusive design and accessibility while re-framing disability from a diversity perspective. Maintains accurate case files and required data for reporting system(s) to ensure student progress is documented and compliant with applicable regulations. Acts as a reader and scribe for students' tests, and may act as an in-class assistant/lab assistant. May provide training on program-related subject matter and organize social activities for student club. Other Duties: Other duties as assigned that pertain to the job description Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
