First Shift - 5:00 AM to 3:00 PM
Ensure quality processes and procedures are carried out in a safe
work environment. Provide guidance, training and coaching to
Quality Technicians while ensuring that quality processes and
procedures are strictly adhered to. Handle more difficult quality
issues. Work closely with Quality Manager and Supervisor to ensure
smooth shift transition and communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Daily:
Print and review production schedule.
Organize QC personnel on different areas
Re-organize personnel according to production schedule changes
during the shift. Assign personnel activities accordingly
In the absence of a Quality Supervisor, check the first production
of every line at every startup or changeover and verify the
accuracy and completeness of Quality Control and production and
materials used.
Report on quality issues at the daily Quality meeting.
Audit retention samples.
Verify that the retention samples fulfill all the customer
specifications, customer requirements and company standards.
If product sample does not accomplish specification, put on hold
the corresponding production making sure it has pallet numbers,
locations, etc. Make sure the product is not ready to ship and
arrange the necessary steps to correct the possible mistake.
Double check preoperational inspections and QC paper work after QC
technicians fill out forms following the specifications.
Assist Quality Control technicians to isolate nonconforming
items.
Communicate quality issues to Supervisor and Manager and follow
procedures to evaluate the quality of the product if something does
not achieve the specifications.
Work with any other department verifying the product is under
specification in any area, pre-weigh, blending, receiving,
production, etc.
Communicate quality issues with the following shift to ensure
smooth transition.
Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices.
Other tasks as assigned by supervisor or manager.
Weekly:
Verify that the hold area is neat and organized every Thursday.
If there is product than needs to ship, make sure it is inspected
by production and Quality Control
Make sure signs around the plant are legible or replace the damage
ones.
File paperwork such as emails, schedules, hold report, and Syspro
reports as necessary.
Occasional, Infrequent:
Complete and sign any training sheets for new Quality Control
Technicians.
Communicate any changes or issues on products.
Participate in meetings and training sessions.
Aiding in implementation of trainings and continuous improvement
initiatives.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
80% of day spent walking the plant, including going up and down
stairs.
Ability to lift 12-20 lbs for line checks.
Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to perform visual inspections.
EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Use of laboratory instruments: moisture, brix, scales, etc.
Use of vacuum chambers and air pumps during testing.
Scanners.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Basic use of a computer
Basic knowledge of Outlook, Word, Excel applications.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bilingual skills a plus.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High School Diploma
WORK EXPERIENCE:
Experience in the food industry.
2-3 years experience in Quality Control/Assurance.
