Welcome to NGS Printing!NGS is a fast-paced, growing printing company headquartered in Elgin, IL. We print on plastics and paper materials that get installed for POP displays and retail environments across the country. We are seeking an energetic Screen Printing Operator to help us run our M&R Patriot U.V. presses as well as our 6-color M&R Processor and M&R Conquest machines.RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for setting up and operating automatic & semi-automatic flatbed screen printing machines according to written and/or verbal instructions, company procedures, safety and quality guidelines. Capable of solving printing problems, making adjustments to mechanical operation of press to keep quality, registration, color, and production speed at optimum. Has good understanding of inks, solvents, and can print line, halftone, and four-color copy on a variety of substrates by performing the following duties personally or through assistant personnel. Screen printing operators will also occasionally assist with the screen, finishing, and fulfillment departments when work requires.DUTIESReceives production order and job assignments from supervisor. Reads order to verify quantity to be run, overrun tolerance, color sequence, and substrate.Obtains substrate, screen, ink, squeegee, and related supplies needed to produce job.Sets up press according to established company guidelines, safety, and job requirements.Prints proof sheets to check press setup, registration, ink viscosity, and color.Secures supervisors approval for production run.Sets dryer for proper drying or cure.Prints job maintaining optimum production rate, color density, registration, and quality standard within company and customer guidelines, and makes press adjustments as required.Solves printing problems.Prints line, halftone, and four-color copy on a variety of paper and plastic substrates.Responsible for directing the work of a press helper.Completes production run including overruns and production samples.Completes production records and quality assurance documents for jobs.Ensures proper cleanliness of press, work station, and immediate press area by returning unused ink to ink room, removing trash, rags, and extra press sheets.Trains press helper to operate press.Safely, move materials and printed sheets to appropriate locations via forklift.Perform routine QC checks throughout production run to proofs, job ticket, and previously saved parts.Help in other areas of business as needed such as fulfillment packing, guillotine cutting, lamination, or printing.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Ability to effectively present information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.MATHEMATICAL SKILLSAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
