UL’s IT Business Advisor team act as strategic partner and thought leader to critical business teams including Support Services, Commercial, Customer Experience and Revenue Management. In this advisory role, the Senior Advisory Director – Business Technology, will partner with global business leaders to co-develop technology enabled strategies that support short and long range roadmaps, plans & goal in commercial settings. Operating plans will include implementation and deployment of digitalized business processes, applications, and/or analytic tools. By leveraging digital into business opportunities this role will demonstrate the value of IT offerings and how they contribute to the success of our enterprise revenue delivery teams.  


  • Diagnoses current and future needs and develops an IT-enabled, but business-focused strategy for resolution
  • Oversight and accountability for the cost of IT to Revenue Management teams.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of the strategic and operational goals of the Revenue Management organizations
  • Collaborates with the IT Business Advisory team and has a clear understanding of enterprise initiatives
  • Collaborates with other departments in the organization to identify needs and propose solutions and to create mechanisms that proactively identify, track, mitigate, and report technology risks while following established product strategies
  • Uses influence and communication to keep the business informed and up to date on delivery initiatives but is not responsible for delivery
  • Identifies and executes Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) activities to improve planning, service delivery and customer satisfaction
  • Drive creation of monthly and quarterly reviews illustrating service delivery effectiveness, metrics review, and areas of opportunity
  • Directs the continuing review of present technologies, systems, and methods and the formulation of new and revised technologies to reduce costs, enhance efficiency, and deliver business value
  • Navigates the IT organization effectively - knows where, how, when and with whom to interact to drive results
  • Works closely with the IT Enterprise Delivery leaders to ensure that delivery objectives are being met and gain status on key initiatives and helps to resolve issues with the business. Brings the necessary IT leaders to the table with the business to drive the successful solutioning for business issues
  • Collaborates on the definition, prioritization and support of projects, key initiatives and operational items
  • Assists with the IT governance process to ensure business needs are identified and prioritized in a timely manner and communicated back to the business.
  • Leverages IT metrics to ensure quality, timely and consistent delivery
  • Owns the overall quality of IT services delivered to the business unit / function initiating service improvement actions as needed
  • Accountable for meeting Service Level Agreements, Operating Level Agreement and Underpinning Contract requirements for their area

  • At least 10 years of experience in the IT field or Technical product management or relevant business area with budgetary responsibilities within business functions such as Sales, Business Development or Strategy.

  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA or relevant master's degree program preferred
  • Technology savvy – able to translate business strategy into IT solutions/offerings. Possesses a broad understanding of infrastructure domains, strategic planning capabilities, technical acumen and operational experience.
  • Business acumen – understands how a specific business operates and the role technology and business architecture play in driving business outcomes
  • Financial acumen – understanding of financial statements and metrics
  • Possess analytical and problem-solving skills. Able to identify, articulate, and shape business requirements
  • Possess a deep understanding of UL customers and markets
  • Experience leading and delivering results through others
  • Experience balancing priorities and driving to execution
  • Experience with complex customer interactions, products, and services 
  • Experience with setting and executing strategies
  • Able to build and foster strong relationships with peers and senior business leaders
  • Able to partner across global, matrixed, and cross-functional divisions/teams  
  • Executive-level written and verbal communication skills – able to effectively communicate and collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • UL has COVID-19 protocols and policies in place. Business related travel on behalf of UL requires proof of COVID-19 vaccination
