Job Summary
The Software Development Group Lead leads software projects with other team members through the software development life cycle in developing embedded software for automotive electronic modules and components.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates mastery in software design and development techniques as well as in the interpretation of customer requirements.
  • Manages multiple software projects pertaining to a specific customer or product line.
  • Ensures that all required reviews are planned, conducted, and approved.
  • Prepares project estimation data and completes projects according to time and effort estimates.
  • Assumes the leadership role on a software project by guiding the team through the assignment and supervision of tasks.
  • Plans and ensures that all required training is available to the team.
  • Conducts peer reviews and participates in weekly status reviews.
  • Updates and maintains current Nidec products by researching and recommending improved design opportunities.
  • Mentor entry level candidates regarding good technical practices and automotive domain. Experience: 5+ years

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
    • Embedded programming in "C" programming language
    • Embedded programming in 8-bit/16-bit microcontroller assembly languages
    • Software development processes that comply with SEI CMMI Level 3 and the automotive domain
    • Automotive network protocols like CAN, LIN, Flexray
    • Creating software requirements and design documents
    • Creating and executing test plans in a laboratory environment
    • Assemblers, compilers, and debuggers
    • Lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, function generators)
    • Configuration management systems (CVS, PVCS, or similar)
    • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project)

      Travel Required: up to 10%

      Physical Demand (Special Considerations): While performing the duties of this job, the employee consistently is required to use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, bend and crawl. The employee will on occasion lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.
