Job Title: Radiologic Technologist Profession: Radiologic Technologist Specialty: Diagnostic Radiology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 1st shift, varied start times, weekend rotation, 2 call shifts Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: One year of current clinical experience or clinical student experience preferred License: Current state license as a Radiographer Certifications: ARRT registered RT (R) in diagnostic radiology, Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an equivalent Must-Have: Self-motivated, ability to organize and prioritize, flexibility in reorganizing priorities during emergencies Description: Prepare patients and perform radiographic procedures in diagnostic radiology. Operate imaging equipment and perform diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols. Utilize appropriate radiation protection measures. Adhere to organizational customer service standards and support organizational excellence initiatives. Provide positive and effective interaction and communication with patients, visitors, and staff. Perform ancillary services and assist in patient care areas as necessary. Explain exam procedures to patients and interview them to obtain personal medical history, documenting information into the Radiology Information System (RIS). Assist patients throughout the exam and thank them at the conclusion. Provide radiation protection to self and patients in accordance with safety standards. Position patients appropriately and select technical factors to produce images of maximum diagnostic quality with minimal repeats. Ensure correct image identification, including placement of ID markers and proper annotation. Review each study for technical accuracy. Work in partnership with staff to ensure appropriate scheduling and throughput of exams. Assist in transporting patients as needed. Communicate and collaborate with radiologists and ordering providers during exams and for guidance on protocols and order clarification. Approve images, match orders to images, and archive to the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). Perform PACS reconciliations accurately and completely in a timely manner. Document fluoro time and estimated skin exposure for fluoroscopy studies. Demonstrate proficiency with electronic health record systems. Follow workflow from order entry/verification to end exam including notes, medication documentation, and supply charges where applicable in a comprehensive and timely manner. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling reassignment and shift rotations to support departmental needs, including weekend, call, and holiday rotations. Proactively look for additional opportunities to increase efficiency and provide a cohesive work environment. Routinely offer assistance to others, prepare exam rooms for next patients, stock supplies and linens, and maintain a clean staff work area. Provide a positive teaching and learning environment for staff, students, providers, and visitors. Act as a mentor and role model. Assist in onboarding of new employees. Observe malfunctioning equipment and follow proper procedures to report equipment issues. Perform minor troubleshooting as needed.
