Job Description

Position Summary :

We are seeking a knowledgeable, experienced, and hands-on leader to fill our Senior Project Engineer position based at the Hebron, IL plant. This position reports to the Engineering Manager.

Essential Job Duties And Responsibilities
Management of assigned projects, including responsibility for budget and timeline
Coordination of all activities on assigned projects, ensuring on-time completion
Work closely with customers, vendors and internal stakeholders during project execution
Manage multiple projects simultaneously
Lead the design, selection, commissioning and qualification of new equipment and automation. Assist outside contractors to ensure quality and function of electrical systems.
Participate in the design, development, and validation of new products
Develop documentation required for product manufacture and conduct associated training
Lead continuous improvement projects related to existing products, processes and equipment
Develop long and short-term capital plans, ensuring that all projects are planned properly, and the results are achievable
Develop and implement processes that improve manufacturing production and deliver quality outputs by securing and managing engineering service providers, inspectors, and other technical resources that may be needed to develop the project
Work within project planning timelines and constraints, communicating identified risks and issues to management accordingly
Support existing processes and implement change requirements as part of a structured change control process
Analyze and evaluate existing systems and processes, identifying value-added and non-value-added activities to solve design challenges
Conceive, design, test, and develop innovative solutions based on analysis and organizational objectives
Evaluate and explore new and existing processes, equipment, and materials as an input to scheduling methods, performance metrics and financial standards
Develop and design robust manufacturing concepts to simplify and improve processes and ensure best practice
Create and maintain required manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing
Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field of study
Minimum of 5 years or equivalent engineering experience
Comprehensive knowledge of Engineering principles and its application in solving complex problems
Solid software and hardware troubleshooting skills is preferred
Experience with automation design, troubleshooting, working with vendors.
Works independently and with teams (technical teams and cross-functional teams)
Independently tests, analyzes and solves technical problems
Strong knowledge of Design of Experiments
Minitab is a plus
Experience with Manufacturing Process development is required
In-depth understanding of lean manufacturing principles
Experience in Injection Molding, Automation, and high-volume manufacturing preferred
Experience in Ultrasonic welding, heat staking, bonding, robotics is preferred
Ability to work autonomously, with minimal supervision
Personally driven to excel
Excellent time management and prioritization skills
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies along with the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a results driven, team-oriented environment
Up to 15% travel
