Job Description:

The Electrical Engineer will drive process, manufacturing and sustaining engineering activities for commercially available sterile disposable products, ensuring the continued supply of marketed products and components while continuously improving production processes and quality. Job Requirements:Sustaining Engineering Ensure technical expertise on all marketed products and be the primary point of contact for Operations Collaboration with cross-functional teams to solve complex problems Implement design changes arising from safety, complaints, compliance to standards, performance improvement, -lean manufacturing, obsolescence of components and line extensions Establish protocols, conduct tests and analyze results of prototype units and components under operational conditions to investigate proposals for implementing design changes on existing products Establish Design Control Documentation for identified design changes Collaborate with other departments to complete projects Manufacturing Engineering - Ensure preparation of all technical manufacturing drawings - Ensure design and cost-effective equipment modifications and/or fixtures - Ensure reliability of manufactured product to perform consistently - Ensure manufacturing cost estimates based on Customer requirements Collaborate with purchasing/supply chain in qualifying components and suppliers Collaborate with vendors to resolve quality issues where required Collaborate with manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot problems arising from the manufacturing process and determine root causes related to the electronics and software portion of products Manage efforts related to successful design transfer from R&D to manufacturing for all new products Process Engineering - Ensure engineering support for process validation efforts for mechanical components of devices Ensure application of Lean Six Sigma methodologies and continuous improvements to manufacturing processes Establish and maintain defect logs and trending to identify and prioritize improvement projects Collaborate with Quality Engineers to reduce internal and external quality failures Compliance with Standards and NTI Procedures - Ensure all development guidelines and procedure requirements meet FDA and ISO requirements Collaborate with test agencies for UL/CE safety and performance requirements Ensures compliance with all procedures and policies concerning quality and medical device regulations Contribute to a safe work environment by complying with all federal & state laws, Northgate policies, procedures and OSHA, if applicable Education and Experience - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering - 1 + Years of experience in medical device development or in a regulated industry Proficiency in geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) Practical understanding of oscilloscopes and data logging techniques Knowledge or experience with printed circuit board design Knowledge or experience with Corrective Action and Preventive Action (CAPA) Knowledge and experience with GDP/GLP, process validations and controls Specialized Skill or Knowledge - Excellent written and oral communications skills Skilled with Microsoft Office general products or equivalent proficiency - 1 year or equivalent proficiency in any of the following engineering software: Autodesk, Solidworks, FloWorks and LabVIEW Academic/professional knowledge of soldering, electronic component assembly and ESD Practical/laboratory experience building, testing and troubleshooting electromechanical devices and electrical circuitry for engineering changes Interpret/modify design specifications and ability to document all aspects of design Creation of or modifications to product prints, design development documents, product verification plans and reports Knowledge of, and experience in, FDA and EU design controls requirements and DHF components for medical devices preferred Ability to prioritize effectively and handle shifting priorities professionally Working Conditions - Clean, light assembly manufacturing environment Standing for short periods of time Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 lbs Average noise level Here at NTI, we are passionate about innovation and improving minimally invasive surgery.
